Interested in arts administration? Learn the ropes of a busy admissions and student services office for the largest summer festival in the country! The Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS) seeks to hire two seasonal staff who will be the main points of contact for 650 talented students and 120 artist-faculty representing the major U.S. conservatories and orchestras. In an office that is responsible for every aspect of the student experience as well as education and programming for the community, these positions will interact with the Manager of Admissions and Student Affairs, the Manager of Enrollment and Student Benefits and will have regular interaction with the Associate Dean, Vice President and Dean of Students, Director of Education and Community Programming, and the Education Community Programming Coordinator. Hours are varied and will include evening and weekend commitments.


Student Programming

The Student Services Department is responsible for all events outside of orchestra, opera, and chamber music. The Student Services Coordinators will have the opportunity to manage student and community education events, including program recitals, competitions, master classes, lectures, and more, from production/preparation to execution.

Administrative Duties

The Student Services Coordinators will work directly with the Manager of Enrollment and Student Benefits to administer the student healthcare and payroll programs. S/he will provide administrative assistance for aspects of our Education and Community programming, facilitating private lessons from Festival students to local children, and connecting Festival students with community members who wish to hire students for social events. Through these and other responsibilities, the coordinators will gain valuable experience working in Slate, which is today’s leading admission software.

Student Services Representative

The Office of Student Services is open to students, artist-faculty, staff, and the general public weekdays, 9:30 am-4:30 pm, and on Saturdays, 9 am-12 pm; 1-3 pm, to field questions and concerns. As the hub of the School, the coordinators will be charged with quickly getting up to speed on the ins-and-out of a bustling campus, with the ability to serve faculty and students while maintaining composure under pressure.


Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with varied constituencies (artist-faculty, guest artists, students, and colleagues), are required. The individual most suited for this position must be highly organized and able to maintain poise in a fast-paced environment. A background in classical music and/or production is preferred, as well as experience with Microsoft Office and data entry. Experience with admission software is a plus.

Note: A personal vehicle for the duration of the summer is required.

Compensation: Hourly wage, less a portion of the cost of employee housing; AMFS season pass

Term of employment: June 5 – August 18, 2019

The Student Services Coordinators may not be registered students and may not participate in any student performances and/or activities, although lessons with artist-faculty are permitted if arranged and paid for directly with the desired teacher. AMFS employees may not accept other employment without prior permission from the Vice President and Dean of Students.
