The Resident Director for the Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS) works in conjunction with the Office of Student Services to create a sense of community in the residence halls. The Director reports directly to the Associate Dean and is responsible for supervising the residence life staff consisting of four Resident Supervisors and 14 Resident Assistants. 

Organizes Resident Life Staff training, oversees the housing check-in process, supervises facilities maintenance, approves and facilitates changes within the residence halls in conjunction with the Housing Coordinator, administers disciplinary action to students as necessary, manages the Student Information Office, and responds to student emergency and policy enforcement issues. 

The director will meet weekly with the residence life staff to coordinate weekly schedules, plan and organize student activities, share information, and lead and participate in periodic workshops and training sessions. The Director also meets regularly with the Office of Student Services and the Associate Dean to communicate information and discuss pertinent issues. 

Applicants must be 21 years of age as of June 5, 2019. The ideal candidate should have a background in both residence life and in music, but applicants who have the desired set of skills in related fields will be considered. Excellent inter-personal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with varied constituencies, are required. Experience with high school age students is preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Slate Technolutions is also preferred. 

Stipend plus room and board in residence halls and a concert pass for the 2018 AMFS summer season

Terms of Employment
June 5, 2019 - August 23, 2018

The Resident Director may not be a registered student and may not participate in any student performances and/or activities, although lessons with artist-faculty are permitted if arranged and paid for directly with the desired teacher. AMFS employees may not accept other employment without prior permission from the Vice President and Dean of Students.
