Aspen Music Festival & School – Aspen Opera Center – Assistant Stage Manager 

The Assistant Stage Managers work under the supervision of the Production Stage Manager of the Aspen Opera Center assisting with the run of rehearsals for an eight-week season with two mainstage opera productions, as well as independently managing weekly opera scenes master classes. Typical duties include: assisting in running the rehearsal room, facilitating communication with designers, tracking props and costumes, cueing artist entrances, maintaining a safe environment, and general note taking and administrative duties. In addition, each assistant stage manager will run one side of the stage during tech and performances. In this role, there are two positions available for 2018.

Qualifications: Currently pursing or graduated with a BA/BFA in Technical Theatre with an emphasis in stage management and a minimum of 3 years of stage management experience required. Candidate must be able to make quick decisions while maintaining a calm demeanor under all circumstances. Candidates with prior opera experience and the ability to read an opera score will be given preference. Candidates also must be independently motivated, possess a sense of humor, and be able to climb stairs and ladders comfortably. Additionally, candidates must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred for the summer of 2017. A DMV check will be conducted for the candidate hired.

Compensation: Weekly salary plus seasonal housing

Duration: June 18 - August 22, 2018
