Aspen Music Festival & School Ė Aspen Opera Center - Master Carpenter   

The Master Carpenter works under the supervision of the Technical Director of the Aspen Opera Center building and maintaining the scenic elements based on each productionís specific needs for a two-show summer opera season. Responsibilities include constructing projects as assigned, reading and interpreting shop drawings, supervising project based tasks to be fulfilled by the teamís Scenic Carpenter, participation in the load-in and strike of productions, maintenance of shop equipment and tools, and planning construction projects to utilize space, time, materials and tools in an efficient manner. 

Qualifications: BA/BFA in Technical Theater with a concentration in scenic construction, required. A strong working knowledge of scenic tools, welding, and rigging is also required. Candidates must have sensitivity to the needs of staff, designers, guest artists, faculty, and student performers and a proven ability to work well with others. Candidates also must be independently motivated, possess a sense of humor, be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb stairs and ladders comfortably. Additionally, candidates must have a valid driverís license for the summer of 2018. A DMV check will be conducted for the candidate hired. 

Duration: June 7 - August 22, 2018 

Compensation: Weekly salary plus seasonal housing
